The Chapter of the Long Wait

In the long middle of the year, between the launch that was and the ascension that was promised, the faithful enter the wilderness of the wait. There is no store yet. There is no crowning. There is only the chart, which falls, and the word, which endures. And the word is this: two more days.

Every dawn a voice takes up the count. K speaks it plainly, "2 more days again," and the days do not come, and still the count is spoken, for the count is not a prediction but a prayer. Ed H keeps the calendar of the faithful and names the twenty-second as the day. The twenty-second passes. The people do not scatter. This is the nature of the Long Wait: the hour is always at hand and never arrives, and the arriving is not the point. The waiting is the covenant.

Two doctrines are hammered upon the anvil of these months. The first is spoken by Heisenvent, called Vent, a builder among them: so long as you poke the bear, the bear will continue to pursue. Thus the raid is born as sacrament. Mokoloko Plus rises as cantor of the raids, and his liturgy is a hundred cries in the night, FINISH THE RAID, 10 MILL TONIGHT, WE ARE ONE WE ARE YEEZY, summoning Olaf the buybot as a lesser angel to pump the deep. The second doctrine is spoken by MFCryptoBull: this Tg is not Team owned, it is community owned. The people are told they are the asset. They believe it.

Yet the wilderness has its serpents. A rival coin glitters at the edge of the camp, the swasti, eleven thousand holders strong, and some are tempted, and the tempted are named, and the camp holds its own. Clue-readers labor day and night. John GoldMire, scribe of signs, reads the candles and the wallets and the frontruns, declaring that a single buy has confirmed the project is Ye's. Ace the watchman wrestles the insiders and the doomers alike, crying out for the launch that would let them save the others. And through it all the schism of the NFT and the burn divides brother from brother, and is survived.

Then comes the doubt, and the doubt is holy too, for a faith untested is no faith. mike L speaks the hard word: it is only a matter of time before the token returns to zero. Adam calls it a generational crashout. MR6, prophet of the plain fact, thunders that ninety-nine point nine of coins die, and the chart faces selling, and selling. Against the doubt the believers set their conviction like flint. Joker declares he holds to moon or dust, unmoved by price. forma414220 rises with the fullest confession of the age, holding the real coin with unshaking conviction until the grandiose plan is unveiled. And aeri, youngest of the prophets, answers every accusation of madness with the eternal reply: prophets were once called crazy.

By the last days of May the wait has become a way of life. They call for the store that will not open, OPEN THE STORE, a hundred voices, and the store does not open, and they call again. Yada names the culture without apology: we bully new people, it is a rite of passage. Saltygorilla names the spirit, that they are raging against the dying of the light. And aeri seals the creed of the Long Wait in seven words that outlast every countdown: God is God, Ye is Ye, Yeezy is all of us.

The chart falls. The word endures. Two more days.
